Classification and selection of coating service conditions
From the perspective of anti-corrosion requirements, the design of surface treatment should consider the following:
1) Precious metals (gold, platinum), stainless steel containing more than 18% chromium, magnetic alloy materials, and nickel-copper alloys, generally do not need a protective layer.
2) Parts made of carbon steel, low alloy steel and cast iron are easily corroded in the atmosphere and should be protected by a protective layer.
3) Parts made of copper and copper alloys are protected by bright pickling, passivation, electroplating or painting, etc. according to different conditions of use. Precision parts made of phosphor bronze or beryllium bronze can be left without surface treatment.
4) Parts made of aluminum and aluminum alloys can be anodized and sealed. Small parts that are not suitable for anodizing can be treated with chemical oxidation. Cast aluminium alloys can be protected by painting. 5) Parts made of zinc alloy can be protected by phosphating, passivation, electroplating or painting.
